Neil Scott
President and General Manager

It’s Neil’s personal mission to help people communicate their ideas more effectively and to create positive change through pictures and words. Putting his years of technical and people skills to work, Neil is a driving force behind a growing and vibrant production company. Under his leadership, The Edge continues to grow as a result of focusing on the customer’s needs and exceeding their expectations.

Neil has over 25 years experience in film and video production, starting with CFCN Television, Calgary in 1983. Working a variety of jobs in the studio and control room gave Neil the opportunity to get a solid understanding of the inner workings of the business of television. Hired as a commercial shooter for CFCN-TV Productions in 1987, Neil worked on local retail commercials, corporate videos and 1988 Winter Olympic games productions. He went on to work for a Calgary based production company as a videographer and video DOP from 1990-1992.

Neil struck out on his own in 1992 and formed The Edge. With many years of experience shooting in a wide range of situations, Neil is as comfortable shooting on an oil rig as working with celebrities, leaders of business and heads of state. Some highlights in his career are filming Queen Elizabeth and Anthony Hopkins, circling the globe shooting in five countries in ten days (Canada, USA, Japan, Germany and UK), in refugee camps in Afghanistan and working in the arctic at -50c.

When not at The Edge, Neil enjoys time with family and finding new adventures though travel of any kind.


Ron Heinz
Production Manager and Producer

From his earliest days playing with his dad's Super 8mm camera and through his experience in university and with real world film and video projects, Ron developed his skills and passion for the craft of visual storytelling. He enjoys working with clients to discover and shape their stories into effective videos.

Ron studied film at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He has a professional background in business systems and IT consulting, graphic design, web design, print and multimedia production and coordination. Always with a focus on client service first, Ron brings a broad range of technical knowledge together with exceptional creative instincts.

Ron joined The Edge in the summer of 2005 and has been involved in coordinating hundreds of location shoots and productions. He has produced a variety of videos for clients such as Shell Canada, Nexen, Science Alberta, Samaritan's Purse and SMART Technologies.

Andy Grubbe
ENG/EFP Cameraman

Working with Andy, you’ll notice his professionalism, calm disposition, attention to detail, work ethic, respect for others and dedication to the project. Communicating a clear vision and meeting a customer’s needs are important to him. Andy brings a creative edge to his work and consistently produces high quality images with exceptional skill.

Andy has always had a passion for the visual arts. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge where he studied Film and Humanities. Andy later studied Broadcast Television at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. While at BCIT, he wrote, produced, shot and edited several successful documentaries and developed a keen interest in shooting video.

Andy joined The Edge team in January 2007. He has gained valuable experience with extensive work on productions that range in diversity and include everything from reality television to visual documentation of frontier exploration. Andy has shot for a number of television broadcasters including CNN, TSN, CTV, BNN, CPAC and The Weather Network, as well as for many corporate clients.

Chad Tweten
Post-Production Editor

Chad has been a member of The Edge team since February 2009. A former student and instructor at the Vancouver Film School, Chad is an excellent communicator with a great grasp on all things related to digital media.

An incredibly upbeat and energetic personality, Chad approaches all projects with passionate creative enthusiasm and technical skill.
